Some of my most precious experiences with the boys have come when I am tucking them in at night. Every night we do devotions together, we sing, we pray, we read and just go wherever the Lord leads us. I want them to know how to communicate freely with God, so one day, it finally dawned on me that the best way we learn is by doing. It has been a joy to watch them mature in God, sing in the spirit, and make up little new songs all their own. There are nights, I have to admit, when I am so tired that I am tempted to just hurry it a long. Then, I pause and remember that I will never have this day back and that I want to go to bed knowing I have done all that He called me to do as their mama for this day.

Some of the sweetest words have come up out of their hearts during these special moments. Not so long ago, after we had been praying, Wesley looks at me and says, "Mama, I know what I want to do for God." I shared with him that he did not have to know that yet, but he insisted that he did know. He went on to tell me that he wanted to preach like his Mommy and Daddy, all over the world, and help people. Then, he said the most profound words for a little 6 year old at that time. "I think that is what God wants everybody to do, but not everybody will listen", he said. I felt a big tear roll down my cheek, thinking about these words that had come from the mouth of a child. I said, "did Daddy tell you that?" He responded, "No, I just see a lot of people doing a lot of other stuff and not many people who are preaching." Shew! I knew his little spirit was hearing the voice of God that gently tells us we are all called to go and to do the works that He did. There is no denying it and those words have stirred my soul.

Hurlbut's Story of the Bible is a must have! We received it as a gift when Wesley was born & it holds true to it's motto... "For young & old." Not only are my children learning, but I personally have gained a better understanding of the O.T. at the same time. Absolutely, one of my all time personal favorites.  For me... & for them!
